History

The building in which The Great Hall is located was designed in 1914 by Charles Frost and built by railroad entrepreneur James. J. Hill. Originally, the building housed Northern Pacific Railroad on one side and Great Northern Railroad on the other. The atrium (Great Hall), home to First National Bank, separated the two companies. The Northern Pacific existed only briefly and was consolidated with the present day Burlington Northern Santa Fe which is still established in the building. Until the IDS Tower was built in Minneapolis, the building was the largest in the Twin Cities.

The Great Hall is located at the 180 East Fifth builing, an architectural gem of historical Lowertown St. Paul

180 East Fifth is a spectacular 13 story office and special events facility is fitted with all the latest digital technologies. Located in the heart of the city it has remained a landmark address and the largest building foot-print in St Paul since 1910.
